In this dashboard, we take a deep dive into the airdrops provided by Anchor to LUNA stakers. We take a detailed view of the genesis airdrop and the weekly airdrops especially with regards to their impact on the staking returns on Terra. We also try to understand what users tend to do with the ANC tokens they receive from the airdrop.

Genesis Airdrop

Anchor performed its genesis airdrop on the 17th of March with a snapshot taken on the same day. The protocol took a snapshot of LUNA staking amounts and issued an ANC reward proportional to the amount of LUNA staked:

A total of 50M tokens (5% of total supply) were airdropped to LUNA stakers, with the staked amounts snapshotted at block 2179600.

Let's start by looking at how many of these 50M tokens were actually claimed:

Total Genesis ANC Claimed

Looks like ~48.5 million ANC was claimed during the genesis airdrop. This means that approximately 1.5 million ANC remain unclaimed. This would amount to about $5.1 million in value is yet to be claimed from the Anchor Airdrops (assuming a price of $3.374 per ANC as of the 21st of August, 2021).

Next, we look at the number of users that claimed these tokens relative to the number of users who were eligible to claim rewards:

Anchor Genesis Airdrop Claimer Percentage

About 64.4% of all LUNA stakers from the 17th of March claimed their airdrop. This may in part be due to some users' airdrop amount was low enough that the value of the ANC tokens was not profitable net of transaction costs. But given that only 4000 people didn't claim their airdrops it seems likely that there are some people who have a non-trivial amount of ANC that they have chosen to not claim yet.

Let's take a peek at the largest accounts with LUNA staked on the 17th of March but without a claim to the genesis airdrop:

Largest Unclaimed Genesis Airdrop Accounts

Looks like the largest account with an unclaimed Anchor genesis airdrop is the bLUNA Hub Contract on Anchor (which can be excluded from this analysis). The others in the top 10 seem like accounts with large quantities of LUNA some of whom don't interact with the chain regularly but have been staking for a while. They look likely to be early venture stage investors in the Terra Protocol.

Next, let's try to get a fuller picture by bucketing the users who didn't claim the genesis airdrop based on the amount of LUNA they have staked:
